Danger lurks at every corner in the Southwest Florida wild life. Imagine getting your vehicle stuck in waist high water in the swamps of the Everglades. It seems impossible, but down here anything can happen! We once got a call for a family that was following their GPS, and ended up in a dangerous place. Collier county has been undergoing construction, redoing roads etc. for the last few years; GPS does not always catch on. After an hour and a half of off -roading in their minivan, this family realized that they were not going the right way and found themselves stuck in a muddy swamp.
They were rescued before anything harmed them, but their van was stuck with what seemed like no way out. Our company was called and we drove the hour and a half to where we found the van. In the area surrounding us, we saw an alligator, a python, a deer, and a brown bear; not to mention the unknown around and underneath the water. We had to be smart about it; we realized if we got stuck, no one else would be able to help us out.
We ended up getting in the water, moving the van around and got it connected it to our tow truck. We have 4-wheel drive recovery trucks for situations like these and this is the only truck that would be able to get this van out. Maneuvering it just the right way, we were able to tow it out of the swamp and into safety. Times like these are what we make us the best. We have learned ways to achieve what seems unimaginable, and we do so for people who need our help.
